New Year 2004 -- 2004-01-09 Well, Christmas was a usual holiday with its family stresses and trying to see too many relatives who you never see at any other time of year, but other than that it was good. It was Debbie's and my first Christmas together, and it felt good to spend Christmas Eve in the arms of someone who loves me and who I love. Having never lived with anyone before, it's an amazing feeling to know you have a family of your own, besides your parents. My love for Debbie is stronger than I have ever known for another person. Having her with me during the holidays was wonderful, and although we spent the majority of it around the bay with her mother, it didn't matter, because we were together. We opened presents under the tree, and had stockings, just like I imagined it would be. We drove back home to see my parents and have Christmas Day dinner with them, and then we went back out to spend time with Debbie's sister's family. Everybody there was very accepting of me being there, and considering the fact that Debbie has not been "out" to them very long, they were exceptionally good. My family has embraced Debbie with open arms, and so it is her family we are waiting for. I don't mind, it could be so much worse. Her mother had a few snarky comments in the beginning of our relationship, but now she has gotten used to me, I think. In other news, I go back to university on Monday for my second term of my Ph.D. The first term was incredibly challenging (note the lack of updates) and I faced a lot more than new material. Still, I think I overcame, so to speak, and am ready to start again. My marks weren't stellar by any means, but that is okay. I accept that. I'm sick right now with strep throat, which makes me one cranky puppy, but Debbie has been taking care of me. I fear she is going to come back from work sick and the roles will be reversed. I'm a good caretaker though, I thrive in it. Hope anyone who is reading this had a good holiday. More soon!
