New Years Resolutions one month late -- 2003-02-05 Making some changes to my lifestyle, mostly to counteract the depression. I call them my New Years Resolutions one month late. Plus, I have an internet friend who is going to be my online exercise buddy. We both want to get in shape, but are just learning how. - Giving up white bread for whole wheat. White bread turns into sugar faster, no real nutrition. - Giving up fatty foods. No more hotdogs. No more fried eggs. No more mayo or butter. I had plain toast without butter today and it wasn't too bad. - Starting to walk more, with Sonny (my sister's dog). Half an hour of exercise every day is supposed to be wonderful for depression, not to mention your heartrate and all that healthy stuff. Plus I might actually lose a few pounds by exercising. - Chocolate only in emergencies (pms), and in limited amounts. - Multivitamins every day. - More water! This is supposed to help you think clearer, make you feel generally better. Most people don't drink enough water and I know I definitely don't. So, I'm going to have water instead of pepsi most times. - Cut down on caffeine again. I do this periodically, but then start slipping back and have to do it all over again. This time I mean it. Seriously! Caffeine is brutal for depression. That's it for now. Going to try to conquer the depression holistically first, and then we'll see about meds again.
